Unit 2: The solid part of the Earth

In this unit, we will follw the following order:

• The Litosphere and the Earth's internal structure:
• crust
• mantle
• core
• The rocks and their classification:
• sedimentary rocks
• igneous rocks
• metamorphic rocks

• The minerals and their properties.
• The importance of rocks and minerals. The mining.

Practical experiences:

• Construction of a model of the globe where lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere would be represented.

• Students may bring minerals and rock at class. They will observe, touch and analyze different types of each with their classmates.
